CG1 Frameset $499.00

I have to say I was a little nervous about this frame. When I took it to my local bike shop, they raised their eyebrows when I asked them to press in the BB30 bearings and headset cups. They didn't know what to think of the frame. "Probably some generic Taiwanese junk" they likely thought. "It'll break on the first ride" said one pair of eyes in the shop.

Well after sizing the bike to match my current bike, I took the CG1 for her first shakedown. I stopped a couple times to adjust seat position, handlebar angle and shifter heights, but once I had it dialed in I felt a feeling like I'd never felt before on a bike - weightlessness. I'm no Tour de France climber, but even at 170lb., I felt as light as a feather on this bike. Totally, completely, absolutely comfortable too! The ride is smooth yet it handles acceleration and braking forces with rifle-bolt-like precision and accuracy. This bike is meant to be raced!

Fit and finish are fine, but not excellent. If I paid $4,000 for this frame, I'd be a little ticked off, but since it's less than $900 I can only say that I'm very very pleased with it. It has a gorgeous shape, and the subtle arc of the chainstays makes some Cannondales jealous.

Beautiful - check. Light - check. Compliant - check. Stiff - check. Cheap - Oh hell yes! Buy this frame and you'll conjure up some significant "buyer's remorse" among your Cervelo-riding mates. Bang for your buck has just taken on a whole new meaning with this frame.
